A dirty sounding instrument with a dramatic shape. The smooth taper and large bell lends this yidaki a boomy sound - loud volume with lots of bass, but very little high end harmonics. This one is all about putting power behind the drone frequency.

An odd looking instrument that plays fast and furious. Irregular shape and wood grain shows through. Sound is heavy on midrange, but capable of high harmonics. Horn tone is further away from the drone than normal but is easy to achieve due to the tightness of the instrument.

This yidaki has a tight mouthpiece and upper section that makes for high back pressure requiring a light touch. With the right touch and a player comfortable with small mouthpieces, it is fast and aggressive. The tone is dirty but not at all muffled. Loud with lots of snap in response to aggressive breathing. and tonguing.

This is a very nicely decorated yidaki, with the cross hatch over a natural wood background rather than a flat colour base as usual. As an instrument, is highly responsive, loud with a snap from strong belly or tongue playing. The tone is full and somewhat "dirty," meaning lots of mid range growl.
