This is an incredible yidaki! Long in the making, greatly awaited here at Buku-Larrnggay Mulka, Datjirri Wunungmurra and his wife Djilirrma Mununggurr have created a masterpiece, a new standard for didjeridus. We often see fine artwork on average playing yidaki, or simple artwork on outstanding instruments, but this one has both in spades.

The sound quality is what you would expect from an instrument of this size and shape. Loud and resonant. Boomy rather than bright and harmonic. Easy horn note.

Artistically, this is almost a new medium. The piece was carved and then finely painted with acrylics over the entire surface. A reknowned expert on Yolngu art commented that Datjirri has used the yidaki as a canvas in a new way. Due to the incredible amount of work put into this, and the originality, we had no choice but to set a new high for what we've paid for a yidaki. Also due to the amount of work that went into this, it may remain one of a kind for quite some time.
