A fantastic yidaki with rough traditional sound characteristics and great artwork in traditional ochres. The sound is dirty, with the traditional growliness and grind to it. Mouthpiece is somewhat cup-shaped, as is relatively common in the area. The painting depicts Djaykung, the Javan file snake, and Dhamilingu, the blue tongue lizard. The brush used for the cross-hatching is very fine.

This atypical yidaki from Burrngupurrngu was cut while he was away at Galiwin'ku for ceremony. This finish is rough as he was away from his normal tools. It is painted with ratjpa, the sacred red ochre that only comes from Galiwin'ku, and is normally only used as body paint. The sound is "dirty," mid-rangey and aggressive, with high back pressure demanding forceful rhythmic playing.

It is painted with ratjpa, the sacred red ochre that only comes from Galiwin'ku, and is normally only used as body paint. The sound is deep and harmonic, like the sound of yidaki from central Arnhem Land or elsewhere in Australia, although it is still capable of play in the Yolngu styles.
