Djamarrkuli'wu Yidaki Mala - Children's Didjeridus

Yirrkala boys often visit the art centre to practise their yidaki playing. The yidaki in this category have been personally selected by different boys.

Pictured to the left are two yidaki that were local favorites for a while... until they were sold thanks to this webpage. A Dhalwangu boy is pictured at right playing his choice (click here for an mp3!), yidaki 2412-P by Gurraramawuy Munyarryun. This yidaki has been sold.

Contact us if you're interested in the current favorites that are great for kids or anyone who enjoys smaller instruments.

Children's Yidaki Special!

Whenever well known yidaki maker Datjirri Wunungmurra and his wife Djilirrma Mununggurr have come in recently, their grandson Bidinbidin Marawili has come along. On one occasion, Bidinbidin was carrying a yidaki of his own! Pictured at right is our youngest credited yidaki maker handing the stick over to our assistant coordinator Randin Graves. This yidaki has been hard to keep around here, being desired by every young Yolngu boy who sees it.
