Gapanbulu is the grandson of Yothu Yindi lead singer Mandawuy Yunupingu, and current yidaki player with the band. As such, in recent years he has performed everywhere from small communities in Arnhem Land to a festival of indigenous music in Scandinavia. His yidaki crafting of late have been fine examples of modern instruments from Yirrkala. If you've been missing his instruments lately, that's because he has been living largely in Broome where he has a family.
