Ganbirr is one of the yidaki players with the band Yothu Yindi, and is often seen playing in ceremony, particularly at the Gumatj community of Gunyangara'. As such, in recent years he has performed everywhere from small communities in Arnhem Land to a festival of indigenous music in Scandinavia. He works on yidaki with his fellow Yothu Yindi player, Gapanbulu Yunupingu.
