Djul'djul' (pictured above with her son Djirriwarr) is the daughter of Gumatj woman Duwambu Burarrwanga and Gälpu leader Mithinarri Gurruwiwi, one of the most famous Yolngu artists of the previous generation. She learned painting from her father alongside her brother Watjuku and sister Manany. Djul'djul is Burrngupurrngu Wunungmurra's wife and paints most of his yidaki. As he is one of the finest yidaki craftsmen and she has inherited a fine hand from her father, this husband-wife team makes some of the finest and most desirable instruments. Her artwork usually features Wititj the olive python, Djaykung the filesnake, Gudurrku the brolga, and more.

Burrngupurrngu and Djul'djul' are a hard working pair, so we usually have their work in stock. As leaders, however, they also have many ceremonial commitments, so sometimes we run out. Please check with us for current availability.
